TNT’s Falling Skies sci-fi drama TV show, will be making its way into a tactical strategy role-playing game, which will be called the same name and will be launching on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii U, and PC via Steam this fall, announced today by publisher Little Orbit. This makes yet another game that is set in the world of TV shows, like the Defiance video game that recently became a free-to-play title.
If you haven’t ever watched Falling Skies, the tv show is set in a post-apocalyptic world, where the aliens have invaded and taken over the world. In the game it will have players take command of a squad of survivors, who are characters from the show, as players will form a resistance against the aliens in tactical battles in order to save the world on randomized maps that ‘makes it new and fresh.’ The game will also offer a “never-ending list of missions,” with also an ability to unlock skills and upgrade your equipment. Little Orbit also mentions that the actors from the show will be bringing their voices to the game.
“Our goal for Falling Skies is to recreate the humanistic elements from the television series so that players can grow with the characters as they play through intuitively designed strategies,” Little Orbit president Matt Scott said. “We want to bring that same character driven storyline derived from the series to the game all while making it easy to navigate for every player.”
Earlier this year there was an iOS mobile strategy game released called Falling Skies: Planetary Warfare, which had players build a base, in order to survive and try to defend it from attacks.
Falling Skies is created by DreamWorks Television, in association with TNT Productions and produced by Steven Spielberg. It has been written by Robert Rodat, who has worked on previous pictures like Saving Private Ryan and The Patriot. June 22 will be the start of Falling Skies fourth season.
You can watch for media including screenshots and artwork on the official Facebook, and later to come, you will be able to visit the official game website. You can also read the rest of the press release that Little Orbit released, here.
