In a video by IGN, an extended look at the level Capital Cashino was revealed for the upcoming game Yooka-Laylee. As could be expected from previously released footage from the game, this footage shows off Yooka-Laylee to be the third Banjo-Kazooie game we never got.
Like many Banjo-Kazooie levels, Capital Cashino is a largely open level with various smaller activities that reward the player with collectibles upon achievement and that the player can choose to take on in any order they wish. The theme of Capital Cashino, as one could probably assume, is a Las Vegas style casino. Some of the activities in this level play off of its casino theme, such as a task to collect playing cards, or winning a slot machine game. In one part of the level, the player has the option to transform Yooka and Laylee into a helicopter, similar to how the player could get Mumbo to change Banjo and Kazooie into different animals and objects in Banjo-Kazooie and Banjo-Tooie. It also appears, like the transformations in the Banjo-Kazooie games, that there is at least one collectible that can only be reached while Yooka and Laylee are in their helicopter form.
The game has a release date of April 11 and will be available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, Mac and Linux. It was also recently announced, after its Wii U cancellation, that the game will also be coming to Nintendo’s new console, the Switch. However, according to Destructoid, the game will only be available digitally for the Switch, but there is a possibility of physical copies for the Switch coming sometime in the future.
