Still no Garen? The latest character for Riot Games’ fighting game 2XKO was revealed to be Lux Crownguard, one of the original mages from League of Legends and, probably more importantly, likely going to be one of the main characters of Riot’s next animated project post-Arcane.
2XKO gameplay trailers tend to be on the shorter end, so there’s not too much to glean here, but we do get a pretty decent bite of Lux gameplay. From what we can see, they’ve adapted Lux’s skills from League to 2XKO pretty accurately, her iconic laser beam fires multiple times, her snare skill from League got translated into a portal that takes a second to set up before firing a pillar of light downward, a slow moving fireball to help her control space and likely to help her rush down, and she twirls her baton staff constantly so that’s true to form. Beyond that, we can see that she comes equipped with a DP anti-air, as well as a dive kick to let her get in from diagonal angles in the air.
Did you catch the cameos? Lux’s new stage, Demacia, features Galio in the background lording over the battle, as well as a statue of Kayle underneath him. Oh, but the biggest cameo is likely from the next DLC character, Samira. Samira is one of the characters players had pegged as a shoe-in for 2XKO, since she was so very clearly inspired by Devil May Cry’s Dante, a character that translated very well into fighting games in Marvel vs. Capcom 3, but it’s taken a while for the gunslinger to show up. Still, better late than never, and it looks like with Lux and Samira alongside Thresh and Senna who were released a few weeks ago, 2XKO’s roster is really rounding out.
Lux and Samira are set to join 2XKO sometime in 2026.
