PlayStation’s State of Play 2026 showcased just how serious making choices in Until Dawn 2 is with their Choice & Consequence Pre-Order Trailer.
The crew of Dead True, a YouTube show about ghost hunting, follows a lead they receive at HorrorCon regarding a woman surviving a supernatural attack. After arriving on a remote South Pacific island, they set out on their journey to investigate a luxury resort that was shut down mysteriously in the 70s.
It’s here we can see various choices players will have to make on a whim before the timer runs out, giving a small taste of what is to come in the full game. Nate Howard, Dead True’s director, is tasked with the decision of obeying the network’s demands of a live animal sacrifice. If he declines, his reputation and career could bear the brunt. If he decides to prioritize his job, he could lose the respect of his crew and friends–what kind of a person would people think of him as?
Mina Aurellio, the show’s conflicted co-host and “”the best medium in the business”, often performs rituals and séances that connect her to the other side. Unfortunately, she is the one who has to carry out the killing of a rooster for the audience. When the cameras are rolling, she lays the feathery creature down on a table and announces that a sacrifice is about to take place. However, players can choose: does she sacrifice the rooster, or does she slash her own palm? How will the decision affect her career and psyche? Will the network be upset at her for changing their script, or will they find her own blood even more entertaining than the rooster’s?
Also included in the trailer is Owen Baines, the cocky star of the show, who is at a crossroads: follow a signal to help Nate, or cross a bridge to investigate a lively bar. The aftermath of each choice is shown in this scenario; should he choose to follow the signal of his missing friend, he will slip and fall into a river, landing beside a corpse and have leeches attach themselves to his bare chest. If he crosses the bridge, the wooden steps will break and the rope holding it up will snap, leaving him holding on for his life with no way to call for help.
