eSports Series “Legends of Gaming” Launches Gaming Fantasy League

Many people are familiar with the world of Fantasy Football and Fantasy Basketball–or even, perhaps (though less famous) Fantasy Baseball. However, for those not in the know, the Fantasy series for any major league sport (with a smattering of media coverage) receives an online following where fans can stack imaginary teams with real players, and their real stats (which correlates with their lives and changing status from game to game). After each game, players’ Fantasy team’s go up against another player. Chances of winning shift with the status of their chosen athletes performance in real life. It’s a combination of gambling and pure expertise.

ESports, while not officially recognized in many aspects, is quickly growing equally as popular as mainstream sport–including talk shows, play-by-play hosts, and the full-on, fanatic fan culture centered around competitive, head-to-head gaming (ie: Blizzard’s Starcraft, or Valve’s TF2). In fact, Xbox Executives speculate that eSports may soon overtake Mjaor League Baseball (MLB) in fanbase.
