Virtual Reality Gaming? Hold On Says Seasoned VR Developer, At Least 10 Years Until Mainstream Acceptance.

It seems the matrix will have to wait. People who are new to the idea of Virtual Reality should know that it enables the user through an optical and audio device to transform their experience of media as if they are actually there. It is a platform that through its functions allows the user to virtually interact with the projected reality.

Gamers have been salivating at the possibility that we could finally enter the worlds that have captivated us for hours and it seems although the technology is dawning upon us, it will take at least 10 years for VR to gain mainstream traction.

VR platforms are commonplace today in that a multitude of companies are pumping out their own unique hardware. We’ve seen platforms such as HTC’s Vive, Sony’s Playstation VR, and of course Oculus’s Rift. The community is expecting an E3 fully loaded with this tech and yet developers are still wary of their mainstream acceptance.

According to Hilmar Pétursson, CEO of CP Games, the first five years are expected to be chaotic and very slow. He urges caution in this period imploring gamers to be aware that this a tech still in its infancy. There is an extremely interesting upside, however.

After those first 5 years of introduction, developers like Hilmar Pétursson are expecting an explosion of unprecedented proportions. A rapid expansion of acceptance and versatility amongst VR games that will lead to new ways of home entertainment and interaction.

Virtual reality developers have been very cautious and followed suit with Hilmar Pétursson in that they believe it will take some time for VR to make its way into enough homes to be a safe development platform.

Although we’re only in year 2, the future is immensely bright for VR gaming.
