The WFH League is a corporate esports league where companies compete against each other in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and FIFA 20. Esports Insider and Platform announced the new league yesterday with a start date of May 18th. Companies will have the option to compete in CS: GO’s Wingman mode, and/or FIFA 20 one-versus-one.
Games will be broadcasted live on Twitch, with updates via Esports Insider and Platform channels. The league is online only for right now, but the second season will take place at Platform itself. Nicolo Portunato, Co-founder and COO of Platform commented on the new venture, saying “We’ve been discussing a corporate league with our friends at ESI for a while now, and thanks to the central location of Platform’s first venue in the city of London and ESI’s B2B network, it just made sense.” He also notes that multiple companies are already expressing interest in being apart of the WFH League’s inaugural season.
SpecialEffect will be the official charity partner for the league. Their organization focuses on making videogames accessible to people with special needs and disabilities. Tom Donegan, Fundraising and Communications Team Leader for SpecialEffect, shares his excitement about the partnership, saying “We love the idea of an esports tournament that encourages some friendly competition between rival businesses… In these difficult times, we are particularly grateful for the support of Platform and ESI and look forward to watching the competition unfold!” SpecialEffect only services the UK for now and is focused on meeting the demand there. They are continuing to work throughout the lockdown, connecting those in need with accessible technology.
