One of the most successful media ventures in the past few years has been the Embracer Group’s plan to purchase as many studios and IPs as possible and re-releases them to the public. It’s a tried and true method that has worked wonders for them, and it looks like they aren’t planning on slowing down anytime soon. In an interim report, the company revealed that they had made 37 acquisitions in the past 12 months, and they plan on going for the same amount in the next 12 months again, reaching well into next year.

Embracer Group, which also houses the mammoth THQ Nordic, has been on a buying spree recently, so much so that they increased their budget just for the purpose of future acquisitions. This includes Saber Interactive, Alone in the Dark, Kingdoms of Amalur, Carmageddon, and most recently Gearbox Entertainment. That’s already a hefty amount of new IP’s and studios under their belt, and keep in mind that they are planning on buying more. The company also stated in their report that they currently have around “25 AAA releases planned until March 2026 including two postponed releases from FY 21/22.”
The amount of so many different IPs being developed under their umbrella isn’t that surprising considering the number of studios they’ve obtained. One of these titles includes the recently revealed Saints Row reboot, which is also one of the delayed titles that they’re referring to as it was just postponed until August 2022. They’re also part of the Timesplitter reboot which involves a completely reformed Free Radical Design, the original developers of the franchise. There still hasn’t been any word on that, but hopefully, the studio will have something to share with us very soon.
