Last year, Geoff Keighley announced Summer Game Fest. A celebration of gaming was created due to the cancelation of E3. Summer Game Fest is returning and is kicking things off leading into E3 2021 with Summer Game Fest Kickoff Live! More than 30 games were showcased. Here is rundown of all of the big announcements that were revealed during the event.
After recently being leaked, the next Gearbox Entertainment game is in fact Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands. Spinning off from the Borderlands franchise, Wonderlands stars Tiny Tina as the “bunker master”, navigating the players through the story. Players will build, customize, and control their own character with multiple classes to choose from. Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands differs from Borderlands with its mix of looter shooter mechanics and the high fantasy setting. The game will star Ashly Burch reprising her role as Tiny Tina, Andy Samberg as Captain Valentine, Wanda Sykes as Frette the robot, and Will Arnett as the Dragon Lord.
Metal Slug Tactics is a fresh take on the Metal Slug series. Instead of non-stop run-and-gun action, Tactics takes the franchise in a more strategic route. Death Stranding Director’s Cut is coming soon to PlayStation 5. Jurassic World Evolution 2, a sequel to the park builder sim has been announced. It will be available on PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One. Popular Korean MMO Lost Ark will be coming to North America later in the Fall. Sable got a release date of September 23, 2021.
Among Us is getting a new hide-and-seek game mode, new roles, new colors, and more. Salt and Sacrifice is the sequel to Salt and Sanctuary. It’s coming to PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 next year. Two Point Campus is the next game from the developers of Two Point Hospital. The game is launching next year for PC. PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.
A new area is coming to Escape From Tarkov and takes players to war-torn streets and apartment buildings. Smite is collaborating with Stranger Things and will bring Eleven, Hopper, several creatures from the show, and a new map inspired by the Upside Down. New developer Stray Bombay revealed the first look at its first title, The Anacrusis. The game is a Left 4 Dead styled co-op shooter as players have to fight back against an alien invasion.
Koch Media has announced a new publishing label called Prime Matter as well as 12 games that will be released under the label These games include Payday 3, Crossfire: Legion, King’s Bounty 2, The Last Oricru, Encased, Gungrave: G.O.R.E., The Chant, Codename Final Form, Dolmen, Project: Echoes of the End, and Painkiller. Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodhunt is a new multiplayer game where players duke it out as creatures of the night. A new gameplay trailer for Tales of Arise was released, showcasing the game’s characters, abilities, and more. Rocket League will see the return of several cars from the Fast & the Furious franchise on June 17 in celebration of the latest movie in the franchise, F9: The Fast Saga. Thatgamecompany’s Sky: Children of Light is coming to Nintendo Switch with a new season called Le Petit Prince. Sky: Children of Light will be available later this month on June 29. Le Petit Prince launches on July 6.
New looks for Baptise and Sombra in Overwatch 2 were shown off. Planet of Lana was announced. It’s a hand-painted puzzle adventure set to release next year exclusively on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC. Players will play as Lana, who, along with her animal companion Mui, will explore and search for her sister on an alien planet. A new story trailer was released for Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin. The game releases on July 9. Endless Dungeon gameplay was shown off for the first time. 2B from NieR: Automata is a new skin coming to Fall Guys next week.
Deviation Games is a new studio from the creator of Call of Duty Zombies Jason Blundell and fellow Treyarch veteran Dave Anthony. They announced that they have partnered with PlayStation on their new IP. A gameplay trailer was released for Tribes of Midguard. The game launches on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and Steam on July 27, 2021. The first gameplay was revealed for Evil Dead: The Game. Players will fight the dead as characters from the franchise or they can be the evil itself and try and wipe out the other players. A new trailer for Back 4 Blood was released revealing a new enemy. An Early Access Open Beta is coming on August 5-9 for those who pre-ordered the game. It will be available for all players from August 12-16.
Lastly, After many rumors and leaks, gameplay footage was officially revealed for Elden Ring, the highly-anticipated next title from From Software. A release date was also revealed. The game launches on January 21, 2022, for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC. The game will support Xbox Smart Delivery and a free upgrade from PS4 to PS5 will be available.
