One of the most anticipated titles in recent memory, and arguably the most hyped title of 2022 is just days away from launching. Elden Ring is finally upon us, and with the date of February 25 just mere days from now, the Soulsborne community is at fever pitch. From Software and Bandai Namco have revealed the global release times for the title, and with so many time zones to go off of, that means a plethora of varying degrees for when it will unlock for different regions.
As you can see in the tweet above, every single region will have a different release time to play the game. This of course applies to those who are pre-downloading the title digitally. Those who are planning on getting the title physically will have to wait until the actual release date of February 25. The most striking part of this global time release is for the North American region, which essentially get’s to cheat a bit due to the time zone difference. This especially applies to the west coast on consoles who will be able to play Elden Ring 9:00 PM PST on February 24, which is actually standard for most digital releases.
However, the biggest aspect is for the PC community on Steam. They’ll be able to play the game at 3:00 PM PST/5:00 PM CST/6:00 PM EST on February 24, an entire 6 hours before the console players. That’s a seriously huge gap between unlocking times, especially given the worldwide stage that Elden Ring is being presented on. Neither From Software nor Bandai Namco have given any clear reason as to why Steam players get first dibs, but this could potentially lead to some console players seeing both the developer and the publisher giving PC players an unfair boost.
Regardless of how this could be viewed, everyone will be able to get their hands on 2022’s hottest entry, and it’s only a few days away. Elden Ring will offcially launch on February 25 for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
