Today Honig Studios, Quantumfrog, and HandyGames have announced that El Hijo – A Wild West Tale is now available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. The game had originally released on PC and Google Stadia back in December of last year and received positive reviews. El Hijo is a non-violent stealth game that takes place in a spaghetti western setting.
In El Hijo – A Wild West Tale you play as El Hijo, a six-year-old boy who after a run-in with some bandits, is left behind and must search for his mother. Players will journey through a remote monastery, a dessert, and a seedy frontier town. Gameplay in El Hijo centers around blending into the shadows and sneaking past the various enemies in each environment. Unlike many other stealth games of the past, El Hijo is a more wholesome experience, trading violent eliminations of enemies, for childlike mischief.
Different objects such and laundry baskets, bathtubs, and coffins will have to be utilized to sneak and hide. Players will use an arsenal of toys such as a slingshot, smoke bombs, and fireworks in order to distract and get past enemies. As the player progresses through the world they will need to adapt and use their puzzle-solving to get past monks, bandits, and lawmen. The player will also convince other children to join them on their path to freedom. Variations of existing mechanics will emerge further in the game as a natural extension of the gameplay.
El Hijo – A Wild West Tale is now available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PC, and Google Stadia for $19.99 USD. Additionally, the game is also available on PC through Steam for the same price.
