Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes Mustered 4.5 Million on Kickstarter

Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes marketed itself as a spiritual successor to Suikoden, which Konami has shelved for the forseeable future. Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes started out on Kickstarter with the simple goal of half a million, which was quickly surpassed on the very first day gaining 1.5 million. Now that the campaign is finished, the project accumulated 4.571 million in total.

Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes will see Yoshitaka Murayama, the creator of the Suikoden series and writer of the first two games collaborating with Junko Kawano, character designer, writer, and producer for the first and fourth games. Players will be exploring the continent of Allraan, a diverse world space full of elves, humans, desert people, and beastfolk. The Galdean Empire jumped forward in power with the development of magic-amplifying technology.

Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes is reminiscent of the PS1-era of JRPGs, full simple 2-D sprites, with a hundred of them being recruitable companions. Some of the companions will be needed to develop the fortress and town that will serve as the player’s home base. Six of them will be used in the turn based combat and for exploring the world in real time.

The home fortress will have companions manning the walls and defenses to protect the inner city. Others will serve as smiths who develop weapons and armor for the players to equip their people with. The town will also develop more business with farms, taverns and restaurants that will unlock new cooking recipes that will benefit the player in their adventures.

With the conclusion of the Kickstarter and the funding has reached all of the stretch goals, the developing team is free to fully develop their vision. Yoshitaka Murayama expects that the game will take several years to finish, but the earliest builds will start coming out in October of 2022.

Griffin Gilman: Gaming may very well be half of my personality, so it is only natural that I write about them. The best genre is RPGs, while the best game is Nier Automata. That's not an opinion but a matter of facts.
