Earth Defense Force 6 Western Release Announced for Spring 2024

“EDF! EDF! EDF!” the quote of every Earth Defense Force fan after the announcement trailer for Sandlot’s Earth Defense Force 6 at the New York Comic Con. The multiplayer third-person shooter, having already been released in Japan on August 25 of last year, now has an official time frame for its release to audiences in the West, looking to be sometime in Spring of 2024.

The trailer shows off the incredible, and slightly surreal, charm of the series. The voice acting is amazing and intentionally awkward, and the classic Earth Defense Force anthem has made its glorious return.

Also making its return in the trailer are the soldier classes fans of Earth Defense Force will immediately recognize, if they didn’t already know said classes were in the game from the Japanese version. The Ranger, Wing Diver, Air Rider, and Fencer all show up briefly in the trailer, blowing massive payloads on top of various giant bug aliens to rid glorious planet Earth of its invaders.

Though speaking of Earth Defense Force 6’s Japanese release, those who have been following the franchise are well aware of EDF 6’s DLC packs, The Lost Days and Visions of Malice, it’s still unknown if the western release will include these DLC packs with its initial release or if they’ll be released in the west as DLC packs once again.

The one thing those excited for this release can be sure of though is that the game will be incredibly fun to sit down with your friends and shoot giant bugs (and occasionally your friends on accident) as is EDF tradition. You can wishlist Earth Defense Force 6 right now on Steam for its upcoming Spring 2024 release, or you can play it on console on the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. Just remember to sing the anthem before every mission.

To save our mother Earth from any alien attack

From vicious giant insects who have once again come back

We’ll unleash all our forces, we won’t cut them any slack

The EDF deploys!
