The Tokyo Game Show has been the quintessential gaming experience for the latest and hottest Japanese games on the market. With the event just a week away, more and more games are being confirmed for the event. One fan favorite franchise, Earth Defense Force, has been confirmed for the event, for Earth Defense Force 5 and Earth Defense Force: Iron Rain will have playable demos at the Japanese gaming event.
Earth Defense Force is a cult classic third-person shooter that has ties to both serious and silly gameplay. With its action taking place on Earth, the Earth Defense Force is the last stand of humanity against alien invasions. These aliens consist of aliens of all shapes and sizes, including gigantic insects that have come to wreak havoc on Earth. While the series is a favorite, the last game to be released to the West was not well received. Despite this, Earth Defense Force 5, the latest entry into the series, was released in Japan last year, and the final Western build of the game will be one of the playable demos available. Earth Defense Force: Iron Rain will be the next entry into the series, and the latest build will be available to demo as well. Although the latest build for the latter title will be available, no release date for either Japan or the West has been confirmed yet.
There is a catch to these demos, however, for they will only be accessible to the media. Even though these demos will be behind closed door, there will surely be tons of media personnel that will be getting their hands on these demos, and they will surely report on anything interesting, noteworthy, and exciting about these demos. To make up for these demos not being available to the public, Nobuyuki Okajima, producer of the series, will be speaking on new features and the localization process on September 20 and September 21.
The Tokyo Game Show will run from September 19 all the way up until September 23, and the Earth Defense Force Demos will be playable from September 20 until the end of the event. You can check out the trailers for both titles below.
