EA Planning to Shut Down Servers of Four Games From the Late 2000s

According to a report by TrueAchievements, EA is planning to shut down the servers on four of their older games. Command and Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars,  Command & Conquer: Kane’s Wrath, Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3, and Mercenaries 2: World in Flames are all set to have their servers shut down on November 9. Each of the games are fairly old and has had its time to shine as some of the most exciting games on the market. Players will not have long to complete any online-only achievements that might still be available for each of these games.

Command and Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars was released in 2007 and is available for the Xbox 360, PC and Mac. None of the newer versions of consoles currently support Command and Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars.

Command & Conquer: Kane’s Wrath was released in 2009 and is an expansion of Command and Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars. The games are similar since they are both strategy based and rely on players to make decisions that will affect both the short and long term outcomes of the game.

Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3 was released in 2008 and takes place in the Soviet Union, where the government must use a time machine to go back and fix the mistakes of their predecessors. World War III is at full force upon return and players must do everything in their power to stop and win the war.

Finally, Mercenaries 2: World in Flames was released in 2008 and is much more of an action-packed game compared to the Command and Conquer series. Mercenaries 2: World in Flames was a hit upon release and features many different achievements that players could seek out to accomplish.

Although each of the games are getting their servers shut down, players are lucky enough to have some time to accomplish any remaining achievements. Despite the potential to complete all of the achievements, it is estimated that each game would take at least 40 hours to complete, with some even clocking in at an estimated 120 hours.
