EA Offers Free Sims 4 Packs on Epic Games Launcher After Moving All Players to EA App

From May 11th to May 18th, Electronic Arts will be offering the Daring Lifestyle bundle of three The Sims 4 DLC packs on Epic Games. The packs the comprise the Daring Lifestyle pack include The Sims 4: Jungle Adventure, The Sims 4: Luxury Party, and The Sims 4: Fashion Street. To take advantage of this offer, players must install the packs through the Epic Games Launcher. However, EA announced in October of 2022 that they would be replacing their Origin game launcher with the EA desktop app. As the notoriously buggy EA app is required to play any EA games on a PC, this announcement leaves players wondering how, or if, they will be able to take advantage of this deal.

According to Epic Games, with this new deal players can “seek adventure – and adventurous fashion! – with this free bundle containing The Sims 4 Jungle Adventure Game Pack, The Sims 4 Luxury Party Stuff Pack, and The Sims 4 Fashion Street Kit.” The DLC packs are older add-ons to the game: Jungle Adventure was released in 2018, and Luxury Party in 2015. Fashion Street was released in 2021, though it was to little fanfare, as The Sims 4 kits have been criticized for their small size and price.

The EA desktop app has also been the subject of criticism. The app was launched in October of 2022 as a replacement for Origin. The app was required to launch any EA games on a PC, and all Sims 4 players were left with no choice but to switch from Origin to the EA app on December 8th, when Origin stopped launching games and prompted players to switch to EA. “New reports of problems with Origin’s successor continue to emerge constantly,” wrote Piunika Web. Rock Paper Shotgun had an equally scathing report: “The new EA app is an inconvenience you must accept to play the EA games which require it, and beyond that it is useless.

All this leaves The Sims 4 players wondering how its possible for them to take advantage of the new deal on Epic Games. While it may be possible to link an Epic Games account to the EA app, many expressed confusion in the comments of the original report of this story on Sims Community. “So we’re forced to use the EA app to play the game and the free stuff is only available somewhere else?” summarized Katherine O’Brien. “Yep….that’s the EA we all know.”
