EA Not Making Any Games For The Switch In The Near Future

EA is reportedly not planning to bring any new games to the Switch anytime soon according to CFO Blake Jorgensen. Jorgensen recently told the Wall Street Journal that EA is taking the “wait and see” approach to the Switch when it comes to bringing new games to the console. As of right now FIFA 18 is the only game that EA has out for the Switch. FIFA 18 for the Switch differs from the other console versions due to the fact that it uses a different engine other than the Frostbite engine and it doesn’t have the single player campaign mode The Journey.

The executive went on to state that EA is looking to “fully understand what the demand is” widely for the Switch before it considers bringing more games to it. The Switch sold 7.63 million units across the globe through the end of September. Even though the console is keeping up remarkable good numbers it’s player base is still well below that of the Playstation 4 and the Xbox One.

The publisher does have one other game for the Switch in the works, the adventure game Fe is coming to the hybrid console as well the Playstation 4, Xbox One, and PC early next year. However, EA is only publishing the title. Earlier this year EA vice president Patrick Soderlund stated that the company would bring it’s games to any platform that has players. “We believe that we want to be a part of the Switch, and help Nintendo grow that installed base.”
