EA Delays Battlefield V Until November 20

EA has just announced that their upcoming shooter, Battlefield V, has been delayed, and will now release on November 20. Battlefield V was originally scheduled to launch on October 19, however this delay will push it back an entire month, and in the video game holiday season, that could be a costly decision. The General Manager of DICE, Oskar Gabrielson, in an update on their website speaks about improving their upcoming title and ensuring that the game will be up to standards when it launches.

We’re going to take the time to continue to make some final adjustments to core gameplay, and to ensure we really deliver on the potential of Tides of War,” we know moving the launch date means that we all have to wait a little longer. But we’re going to take our time to make sure we get it right. Thank you for your continued passion and support. We can’t wait to see you on the battlefield in just a few days.

One other situation that may have been a major factor was that Battlefield V was set to release one week after two heavily anticipated games, Call of Duty: Black Ops 4  and Read Dead Redemption 2, with the former being Battlefields biggest video game rival. In addition, the game will now release after two other huge launches, Hitman 2 and Fallout 76, albeit only by a few days. It wouldn’t be a surprise if EA doesn’t wish to have so much competition during the video game holiday craze, necessitating the delay. Unfortunately, shareholders and stock market brokers don’t appear to share that same feeling, as just hours after the announcement, EA’s stock plummeted more than 8% on the stock market.

Despite this, the Battlefield V Open Beta is still planned to begin on September 6. Lets just hope that the beta will keep fans satiated until the new date. Battlefield V will launch on November 20 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
