JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Eyes of Heaven is the latest action/fighting game iteration of Hirohiko Araki’s internationally beloved magnum opus manga. JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Eyes of Heaven has some new features that expand upon the other JJBA games that precede it. One addition is that the combat in the game now features a 2 v 2 system. The multiplayer version of the game will allow for up to four players fighting at once. This 2 v 2 combat style allows for many possibilities when it comes to pairing up characters and how their styles blend together.
The stages in JJBA: Eyes of Heaven are fully open to the player. The players can run around the entirety of the stage filled with interactive NPCs, breakable objects, and pick up items that can give the player an edge. The levels are also very close to the manga, with each level acting in ways that correspond to their place in the story, such as the burning mansion level from the first chapter of the manga. The mansion as the game went on progressively burned and the player if standing too close to the windows would be grabbed by zombies. Being grabbed by zombies led to a little quick time event that if the player could accomplish quick enough would leave them with minimal damage. The enemy could also be thrown into this area of the level. Each character also has their own unique fighting style and abilities based on the characters from the manga. An example of this was when I played with Joseph Joestar I was able to place traps throughout the level that could be activated when an enemy was near.
JJBA: Eyes of Heaven also has a huge cast, expanding the entire 30 years of the existence of the series. Everyone from Joseph Joestar, Funny Valentine, and even Iggy are playable in the game. In total the game contains more than 50 characters expanding the 8 chapters of the story.
JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Eyes of Heaven is going to be released June 28th, 2016 exclusively for the PlayStation 4. The game features the original Japanese voice acting and will have regionalized subtitles.
