E3 2021: WarioWare: Get it Together Two-Player Game Announced for Nintendo Switch

Wario is making a comeback on September 10 for Nintendo Switch. During Nintendo’s E3 2021 presentation, the company announced that this new sequel will offer cooperative play for two players, letting Switch owners team up together to take on the minigame series. But don’t worry Wario fans, Nintendo is sticking to a lot of what players love about the franchise, meaning that the traditional 9-Volt collection of minigames will make an appearance in the sequel, just with more modernized development.

During Nintendo’s Treehouse gameplay stream, it was revealed that WarioWare: Get it Together! will be taking minigame inspiration from previous Nintendo franchises like Fire Emblem: Three Houses, Animal Crossing: New Horizons, Luigi’s Mansion, Ice Climber, and Splatoon. Here’s what we know so far:

Gamers will play as Wario and his crew to survive quick-paced, and “kinda-weird” microgames. There will be an array of characters to choose from, with each playable character having distinctive abilities, so pay close attention. Some characters will have skills that might be beneficial to you in certain microgames that require specified expertise.

The Wario sequel will also contain a microgame based off of Fire Emblem: Three Houses, specifically mimicking the game’s dating simulation during the delicious tea time segment. In addition, Nintendo revealed that there’s at least one Animal Crossing: New Horizons-inspired microgame in which players have to shoot down and deliver a present. Just as a player would do in New Horizons with their slingshot tool.

At E3, we saw Nintendo drawing microgame inspiration from everywhere, even from their own products like: Amiibo, Brain Age, Mii Maker, and Nintendogs.

Although Nintendo didn’t reveal too much about what these games looked like and how they would be played, fans can be assured that the same quirkiness and flurry of quick-reaction games we’ve seen in the series since 2003 will not only be maintained but improved.
