Today, during the Future Games Show, United Label and developer Fallen Flag Studios unveiled a new trailer and the release date for the upcoming pixel art Soulslike, Eldest Souls. Eldest Souls is set to release in just over a month on July 29, 2021. The game will release on both PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, Xbox One and the Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
First revealed early last year, Eldest Souls is a boss rush game “with a focus on fast–paced brutal combat” that places players in the shoes of a warrior tasked with hunting down the Old Gods who are imprisoned in the Citadel that have brought desolation to the world of the game. Each encounter with one of the Old Gods is set to present players with grueling and unique battles. Once defeated, players will earn new powers or abilities to use. Aside from the boss encounters, Eldest Souls will feature numerous NPCs for players to interact with as well as a variety of quests that will unveil the mysteries of the world of the game.
The new trailer focuses on the story and history of the world of Eldest Souls, the history of the world where the moon was formed and then destroyed which spawned both humanity and the gods of the world. Eventually, the gods would start to enslave humanity due to the influence of a dark deity. However, humanity finally revolts and seals the gods into the Citadel where they stay until dark forces return and cause the Old Gods to reek destruction upon the world, and the game begins.
With only a little more than a month until release, eager fans of the genre won’t have to wait much longer to get their hands on the game. For more information on Eldest Souls, you can check out the game’s official website here. You can check out Eldest Souls‘ newest story trailer below:
