Dying Light Season Pass Detailed

The Season Pass, once a domain of theme parks, is now ubiquitous in gaming as well. It has proven to be a lucrative option for many triple A developers, but has also earned the ire of a vocal gaming community who are outraged that these bits of add-on content aren’t already included in the game. The latest game to join this bandwagon is the upcoming Dying Light, whose Season Pass has been detailed two months before the game’s release.

The Season Pass will encompass three pieces of DLC. The first one is called Cuisine & Cargo, and includes two “hardcore” missions designed to present a tougher challenge to players. The two missions will have players investigate some of the most dangerous locations in the game’s South American-themed setting, such as a restaurant and an abandoned railroad yard, all in search of valuable supplies.

The second DLC pack, titled Ultimate Survivor Bundle, will have seven pieces of equipment to even the odds against the zombie horde. These include three special outfits and four blueprints for new weapons.

The final piece of DLC, titled The Bozak Horde, is pretty much Dying Light‘s obligatory Swarm Mode, and has you facing off against endless waves of the undead in either single player or cooperative modes. Players who manage to get through all the waves will be granted the honor of fending off the Bozak, a powerful psychopath.

The first bit of DLC will be released in February, very shortly after the game’s January 27 release in North America (January 28 in Australia and 30 in Europe and Japan). The Season Pass is selling for $20, a 10% saving of the collective price of all three DLC, but Steam users can get it now for a more reasonable $12 until January 2.

Reception to the Season Pass has been mixed, with many users commenting on Techland’s announcement tweet  both positively and negatively. One user wrote “Best Christmas ever!” while another simply said “F*** you.”
