Dying Light 2 looks to enhance even more on the principals that made the original a great game. It was revealed that the game would be released in 2020 on PS4, PC and Xbox One. With all the talk about next-gen consoles getting a release around the same time frame, many began to speculate if Dying Light 2 would be released on future consoles as well. That speculation is over, as Techland has officially announced that Dying Light 2 will be a cross-gen title getting a release on both Project Scarlett and PS5.
Dying Light 2 looks to amp up the daunting, grim, and deadly environment a player is exposed to in its title. Like the original, the atmosphere in the game brings a sense of dread and exhilaration when being chased down by a horde of zombies jumping from building to building to execute a slick escape. These types of situations were abundant in the original and will likely be the cornerstone for Dying Light 2. These challenges were terrifying but the environment was also beautiful and very immersive. It is no surprise that Techland wants to use next-gen consoles to further expand on the visual beauty they provide in their games. The developer confirmed his interest himself in an interview with Wccftech. When asked if he was looking into cross-gen Pawel Rohleder said: “Techland always has an eye on the latest new toys! To be more specific — yes, the plan since the beginning of production has been to make Dying Light 2 a cross-generation title”.
For one instance, the ability to take advantage of ray tracing on new consoles will likely amplify the ambient lighting in the game making it even more breathtaking. Sunlight cascading through buildings as the sun begins to set while making a dash to a safe haven will be striking but also terrifying in Dying Light 2. Details like this on new consoles will only add to the immersion in a survival horror game.
Still no word yet on an exact date for Dying Light 2, only that it will be released sometime in 2020. Keep your eyes peeled for more information on this one at MXDWN Games.
