For eager fans of the Dying Light series, more information about the much-awaited sequel will hopefully come out sometime next year. Originally, Dying Light 2 was expected to come out in the Spring of 2020. However, in an announcement in early January of this year, the developers, Techland, said they needed more time and more information will be forthcoming in the coming months. Finally, almost year later, in a message on Discord that circulated around Reddit, the lead game design developer, Tymon Smektala, hinted that more information about Dying Light 2 will be coming out soon. While it is nothing definitive, at least fans can look forward to some new updates and details in 2021.
We’ve been, er, dying to update you all on how development has been going. We’ll have fresh updates about Dying Light 2 coming in the new year!
Dying Light 2 was first announced during the 2018 E3 conference, three years after the release of the first Dying Light title. While the original Dying Light game is set in a post-apocalyptic city after it has been demolished by a virus epidemic, Dying Light 2 players can look forward to exploring and fighting during a Modern Dark Age where all of civilization lacks compassion and humanity. While Dying Light 2 will still contain hordes of zombies for players to fight through and parkour mechanics to easily traverse across the city, the sequel is also expected to be much more ambitious than its predecessor, with a map that is four times the size of the original and a new decision system that affects the storyline.
Dying Light is currently on sale on Steam for 66% off during Steam’s Winter Sale Event until January 5th. While a release date has not been announced yet, Dying Light 2 is currently expected to release on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and on the Xbox Series X|S.
