Dread X’s Newest Indie Horror Collection Includes 12 Unique “Lovecrafting” Games

With the release of the first Dread X Collection earlier this summer, the developers at DreadXP have recently released new trailer for their next Dread X Collection 2 which is releasing in a few weeks. With a focus on showcasing multiple unique indie horror game teasers within the individual collection, the team at DreadXP released the first collection with 7 different titles to choose from. The Dread X Collection 2 will include 12 unique teaser games from developers, all following a “Lovecrafting” theme according to the announcement post. From a pixelated horror-survival set in the Appalachians titled Squirrel Stapler to a dating simulator with occult monster-girls in Akabaka, the variety in the collection is evident with each title. The short previews for each of these games in the collection all come from the short prompt of Lovecrafting that their games need to be followed, according to the developers.

The developer details announcement reveals that the theme was up to developers to interpret, “Lovecrafting? What does that mean!? Is it crafting your own Lovecraft world? Is it a survival game with Cthulhu monsters? Are you crafting love in the time of monsters? Who knows. It’s just a prompt. It’s up to the devs to make it make sense.”

The collection will include a number of titles from developers of popular horror and indie games, including the developers behind SCP: Blackout and their title Toy Shop. With the game’s unique interactive launcher, players will be able to select the horror title (displayed as a VHS tapes) they want to tryout while sitting in a pixelated-room.. Similar to the first collection, the Dread X Collection 2 will be arriving on Steam on August 23 and can be wishlisted here.
