Dragon’s Dogma 2’s Files Updated on Steam, Possible DLC Soon

Capcom has generally had a pretty good past few years, though there have been some stumbles on their continued road of success, and one of those stumbles is arguably Hideaki Itsuno’s beloved Dragon’s Dogma 2. Dragon’s Dogma 2 hasn’t had the best time on the market since its release in March this year, with many claiming that it feels rushed and that it doesn’t live up to the standards set by the original. For months the game has gone under the radar, however, some activity on Steam has determined that there might be some embers flickering for this particular fire.

With Itsuno’s departure from Capcom it looked like things were basically over for the Dragon’s Dogma IP as it was largely labor of love from Itsuno himself, however, it looks like he left one last gift for the players before he left. According to research from Reddit it looks like there have been some encrypted files uploaded to the Steam page for Dragon’s Dogma 2. This may be any number of things, and the leak seems a bit vague, but according to the thread, many are hoping that it will be anything from added features such as scaled enemies and harder difficulties to an outright expansion.

An expansion may seem like a lot but it isn’t off the table, the original Dragon’s Dogma did have an expansion in the form of Dark Arisen, and many players of the original Dragon’s Dogma would argue that the Dark Arisen expansion made the game several times better, to the point where many consider the Bitterblack Isles to be the actual main game and the main game to be a side thing. With any luck, if these DLC files are in fact an expansion then hopefully they’ll be able to inspire and ignite the Dragon’s Dogma fanbase much as Dark Arisen did over a decade ago.
