Dragon Star Varnir Launches Next Week For PlayStation 4, Future Steam Release Revealed

Idea Factory International and Compile Heart are ready to launch Dragon Star Varnir next week on the PlayStation 4. However, the development team recently announced on Twitter that the project may also be launching on the Steam Store soon. The Idea Factory International game studio also released the opening movie trailer for the game which can be viewed below.

In this world, witches are individuals who are cursed with the power of a dragon seed inside them. This seed gives them the immense powers of a dragon, but at the cost of their own mental sanity. Consuming a dragon’s blood helps maintain their sanity. However, intaking too much blood allows the dragons within them to grow stronger and eventually overpower them to break free, essentially destroying the witch in the process.

The story of Dragon Star Varnir follows the adventures of Zephy, a young knight whose purpose is to eliminate the witches. Having his own reason for dispising witches, his hatred towards the group has made him determined to hunt them all down. As fate would have it, during one of his missions he is brought back from the edge of death by two witches who have him drink dragon’s blood. While the blood has given him new abilities, he has now become that which he despises most: a witch. He must now join forces with enemies and be hunted by those he once fought alongside in the Holy Empire. Can he help the witches discover a way to save themselves from the dragon’s curse?

Throughout the game, the player will be tasked with managing the health, magic, and overall well-being of each of their party members. This also includes an insanity level for each witch. The gauge will fill depending on actions and choices taken throughout the story. How the player maintains this bar will have an effect on the overall outcome of the game.

Dragon Star Varnir will be released in North America on Jun 11th, and a few days later in Europe on June 14th. No official dates have been revealed for the Steam Store release as of yet. Pre-orders for the game are currently available via GameStop, Amazon, and BestBuy. There is also Limited Edition version that is available for pre-order on the iffy’s Online Store website. This pack includes bonuses such as a hardcover art book for the game, the official soundtrack, a reversible cover sleeve, collector’s box and more. Descriptions of each Limited Edition gift can also be found on the site.

For more information, be sure to visit the game’s official website or visit the studio’s official Twitter page.
