A new report alleged that the release of Dragon Age: Dreadwolf could potentially be pushed into 2025. Reporter Jeff Grubb spoke on GiantBomb’s Game Mess Mornings regarding the development of Dragon Age: Dreadwolf and its shifting target date thanks to a number of unnamed sources.
Grubb alleged that BioWare was initially looking at a September 2023 target date, meaning that at one point Dreadwolf could have released this year. However, considering the recent layoffs affecting many of BioWare’s senior staff, a 2023 release date seems to be next to impossible.
Back in May, EA’s financial report in May confirmed Dragon Age: Dreadwolf‘s release date to be pushed back till April 2024 at the earliest. However, Grubb suggests the release date might be pushed back even further to Summer 2024. Unfortunately, that is the best-case scenario.
“I think it’s very likely it moves back even further,” Grubb continued. “I expect this game probably to launch by the end of next year.” Even so, he mentioned that the release date could keep shifting and be as late as March 2025.
Dragon Age: Dreadwolf has continued on in its development cycle since its reveal at The Game Awards in 2018. BioWare has allocated much of its employees towards the development of Dreadwolf, exemplified by the past inclusions of the studio’s Mass Effect team and more recently the team on Star Wars: The Old Republic. The recent layoffs have only exacerbated the internal changes within BioWare. That said, the company remains confident in delivering exciting content to its fans.
“…As cliche as this sounds, there truly is never a good time to enact changes like this, but we trust that we have the right leaders and team in place with vision, passion, and proven track records to deliver world-class Dragon Age and Mass Effect experiences that our fans will love,” wrote Gary McKay, General Manager at BioWare.
