Fans of the Dragon Age franchise will be happy to hear that the fourth entry has been given a rough release date. The CFO for Electronic Arts Blake Jorgensen stated on an earnings call that the game is likely two or more years away. He also stated that the game would likely be released sometime after the fiscal year 2022.
According to Gamespot, the fiscal year 2022 runs from April 1st, 2021 up through March 31st, 2022 meaning that fans of the Dragon Age franchise will likely not see the game released until April 2022 at the earliest. Jorgensen has stated that “plans are underway for that product” which seems to imply that the game is still in early development. Little information has been revealed on the game itself outside of the reveal trailer at the 2018 Game Awards.
Dragon Age 4 was first teased to fans during the 2018 Game Awards when they showed off teaser trailer showing off some artifacts, as well as a hashtag that read, “The Dread Wolf Rises”. No information has been revealed about the game itself aside from the trailer and a blog post by executive producer Mark Darrah. In the post, Mike Darrah states that Dragon Age 4 has been in development for “quite a while.” He has also stated that the game is being developed by several “core” Dragon Age veterans including a few who worked on Baldur’s Gate and Jade Empire. He then finished by stating that “hard at work exploring ways to push BioWare’s storytelling to the next level.” The Game Director Matthew Goldman stated that BioWare has created its “strongest team yet” to develop Dragon Age 4.
BioWare is hard at work developing Dragon Age 4, and the developers have made some big promises such as pushing their storytelling “to the next level”. The game will likely not be released until the tail end of 2022 meaning fans will have to wait quite some time.
