Electronic Arts and BioWare are teasing a new Dragon Age 4 reveal at the upcoming Game Awards. The long-confirmed title has been kept under wraps since its first teaser debut two years ago at the 2018 Game Awards. The announcement was made in honor of Dragon Age Day, where fans profess their love for all things related to the series. So far, it isn’t clear what will be shown at the awards show.
According to IGN, “the release highlighted four new short stories, written by BioWare’s narrative team, which have been created to help paint picture for the future of Dragon Age, and provide “some insight” into the upcoming reveal.” The four short stories named “The Next One”, “Ruins of Reality”, “The Wake” and “Minrathouse Shadows” were accompanied by brand new concept art for the upcoming game. News of the next installation in the Dragon Age series has sporadically trickled in, like the teaser trailer that was released during Opening Night Live at Gamescom 2020. The footage introduced new locations, characters, and even an early look at combat in the game. In June, the concept art of Dragon Age 4 was released during next-generation montage at EA Play Live this past summer. Although the game wasn’t mentioned by name, EA’s Laura Miele mentioned BioWare in one of the chief executive officer’s introductions.
The upcoming reveal will be interesting to see, considering two industry veterans, former Dragon Age executive producer Mark Darrah, and former general manager Casey Hudson, announced their departure from BioWare earlier this week. Hopefully, the Dragon Age 4 reveal will consist of more gameplay this time and less concept art. You can find the full list of nominees for The 2020 Game Awards here. The show will premiere on December 10, Thursday of this week.
