Dr DisRespect NFT Game Gets Gameplay Details and Name: Deadrop

For anyone following banned streamer Dr DisRespect in his endeavors with Midnight Society, seeking to be more “democratic” development team, we now have an official title for the NFT-initiated game they have been working on. Access to the so-called Deadrop is contingent on a past purchase of $50 Founders Access Passes – the aforementioned NFTs. However, as only 10,000 were sold, that’s how many people were able to access this first snapshot.

Because there are no restrictions to media promotion or recording for the game, various accounts on YouTube have been able to display the bit of the game that is accessible to those NFT buyers. However, beyond the name reveal of Deadrop, the rest of the snapshot is pretty underwhelming. As games of this size (or most games at all) do not usually show progress at this point, the only features available are 3 shooting ranges with 1 generic assault rifle, and a little empty base to explore. The so-called Snapshot CL 1859 is certainly just that: a glimpse at the very beginnings of a game that is promised to be a “vertical extraction shooter” featuring heavy focus on gear and resource collection in a similar vein to Tarkov, Hunt: Showdown, etc. If you lose something on a run, it’s gone for good – this time, in a new technological dystopian sheen.

While the Midnight Society page assures fans that this is simply a way “to establish the foundation for core player movement, weapons systems, and to introduce an environment in which to test the first weapon.” This might be interesting if there were anything unique to the gameplay or gunplay, but it looks very bland. Among other things, Midnight Society considers this first snapshot to be the beginning of official online support for the game – though there is no online or multiplayer capability yet. It will take a while for the game to develop and community involvement seems to be the key gimmick. However, the rudimentary beginnings, despite the website’s mentioned lore, do not put forth Deadrop as anything special.
