After two years of beta testing, free-to-play multiplayer PC game DotA 2 is opening up to everyone with an official launch. New players will be let in in waves to make sure the servers can handle the strain, but anyone who wants to play the game will eventually be able to.
To accompany the launch, developer and publisher Valve has put a tutorial for new players into the game. A necessary addition since Dota 2 is a notoriously unfriendly game, with over 100 characters who each possess unique abilities to learn, complicated mechanics, and a sometimes aggressive community that has been playing the game in some form or another for over a decade.
If you are willing to brave that, though, Dota 2 can be incredibly fun to play, especially with friends. Best of all, it’s 100% free on Steam.
