Bethesda Softworks announced that Doom Eternal, released on March 20, 2020, will be arriving to the Nintendo Switch eShop on December 8 and will not have any physical copies. Doom Eternal is the sequel to Doom, but there have been many previous installments of this intense first-person shooter game. Players return as the Doom Slayer and battles brand new demons that gradually get harder throughout the levels. This news comes shortly after the release of the first piece of DLC for Doom Eternal, The Ancient Gods Part 1.
While there are no physical copies, players can also buy direct digital codes from select retailers. Players will also want to make sure they have 18.8GB of space available on their Switch to download the game. Gyroscopic controls will be available for Doom Eternal on the Switch, but can be turned ON/OFF in the menu button. As for Battlemode, where two players face demons together, will also be available on the platform. The Ancient Gods Part 1 DLC, however, will not be available immediately and a date has not been announced. Nintendo Switch players have been anticipating Doom coming to the platform.
Since its release in March, Doom Eternal has been a highly reviewed game. It has been nominated for four categories in The Games Awards 2020: Game of the Year, Best Action Game, Best Score and Music, and Best Audio Design. The awards show will take place on December 10 after the release of Doom Eternal to the Switch. Bethesda promises to release details on the DLC later.
