Dontnod’s Vampyr Coming to Nintendo Switch in October

While it’s only September, certain Halloween events are on the rise. Or anything Halloween related, because, well, it’s fun and it’s spooky. And when the yearly shivers begin to creep up, so don’t the monsters that are famous around the holiday show up as well. Werewolves, mummies, Frankenstein’s monster, and vampires. And when vampires are the topic of conversation, developers Dontnod’s hit classic Vampyr will surely pop up.

Vampyr is known to be one of the more faithful representations of how a man tries to fit into his everyday life as a Doctor while also having to deal with his newly created identity. Based in Edwardian England, the story follows one Dr. Jonathan Reid as he’s bitten and turned into a vampire. From there, he’s thrown into a world where there are several creatures, both alive and undead, and vampire hunters. And they’re all out to kill you. During this time, he’s also taken the task of trying to cure a sickness that is spreading through the city, threatening to kill everyone.

Along with these threats to both yourself and the city, Dr. Reid has to deal with several choices of his own. Namely, his own morals of “Do No Harm” in a world that is actively trying to kill him. Having to force himself from not drinking the blood from the innocents, as it even the smallest mistake or anything that he does, will alter the citizens reactions to you.

And all of this bundled up together to create a personal game, dripping with atmosphere, heavy and simplistic, is finally making its way to Nintendo Switch:

Having since been out since 2018, it’s only been roughly a year since it’s launch when it had come out originally for PC, PS4, and Xbox One. But the developers have finally brought a port so Vampyr can be released for the Nintendo Switch on October 29, 2019. Just in time for the Halloween season.
