DontNod Entertainment Announces the Delay of Vampyr

DontNod Entertainmnet, the developer behind Life is Strange and the upcoming supernatural Victorian RPG Vampyr, has revealed that Vampyr will no longer be released as first projected in November this year. Anyone anticipating the game’s arrival will have to wait a few months extra, as its release has instead been pushed back until the spring of 2018.

In a statement issued yesterday, DontNod CEO Oskar Guilbert said:

Delaying the release of a project you hold dear is always a tough decision. However, we believe that meeting a deadline should never compromise quality. We were still convinced just a few weeks ago that we would be able to release Vampyr this year. Unfortunately, a technical issue – now solved – has set our teams’ schedule back at the end of the development.

This delay allows us enough time for all the polishing and balancing phase, much needed for a game of Vampyr’s scope, with its ambitious, semi-open world, its complex narrative and deep RPG mechanics that give players a real impact on the world.

Vampyr is DontNod’s next release after Life is Strange and Life is Strange: Before the Storm. A semi-open world action-adventure game following a vampiric doctor in post-World War I London, Vampyr represents a new direction for the developer. While you wait for Vampyr to be polished and released, check out the game’s most recent trailer from this June’s E3 below. Vampyr will be available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.

Glenn Carreau: Hi! I'm Glenn: recent college grad specializing in interactive arts and media, writer, game creator and connoisseur, pop culture junkie, and semi-professional fan-artist and blogger. In my free time, I function as an unnecessarily specific gaming encyclopedia. I also play the violin, binge crime/detective procedural shows (still not sure why), and do a large amount of digital painting. I'm probably too attached to Dragon Age, but not really inclined to do anything about it. I'm a huge fan of cosplay, foxes, the prose of Jenny Lawson, and Strong Female Characters™.
