Ten days after its October 22 launch, Dispatch has sold over one million units across both PS5 and PC via Steam. The episodic adventure game by AdHoc Studio initially released only two of its intended eight episodes available to players right now, though the final six episodes are being released weekly in sets of two, with the final set releasing on November 12, 2025. The AdHoc Studio team includes veterans from Telltale Games, the game developers behind games such as The Wolf Among Us, The Walking Dead, and Life Is Strange.
Dispatch focuses on Robert Robertson, a former superhero acting under the name of Mecha Man who used a mech passed down through his family to fight villains. After its destruction, Robertson is recruited by the superhero Blonde Blazer to act as the dispatcher at Superhero Dispatch Network for a team of villains-turned-superheroes. Players can choose between a more cinematic experience or a more involved experience. Gameplay includes making appropriate choices given the information provided and quick-time events, some of which are included in the hacking mini-game.
For fans of Critical Role, they will be excited to know that the cast features voices from players at the table such as Laura Bailey, Travis Willingham, Matt Mercer, Marisha Ray, Sam Riegal, Liam O’Brien, and Ashley Johnson. It also features the talented Aaron Paul, known for his role as Jesse Pinkman in Breaking Bad. Other notable names include Erin Yvette, Joel Haver, Alanah Pearce, Yung Gravy (Matthew Hauri), Jacksepticeye (Seán McLoughlin), and MoistCr1TiKaL (Charles White Jr.).
Critical Role Productions has partnered with AdHoc Studio to create merchandise for Dispatch, a tabletop gaming session (which has since aired on YouTube), and an animated series. AdHoc Studios will also be co-developing a new game set in Critical Role’s universe.
