Dishonored 2 Free Trial Available This Weekend

Bethesda announced today that they will be releasing a free trial for Dishonored 2, allowing players who still haven’t experienced the award-winning game to get a free taste.

The trial will be available on April 6, and will include the first 3 missions of the campaign; players will be able to play through these missions as either of the game’s two playable protagonists, Empress Emily Kaldwin or Royal Protector Corvo Attano.

The free trial will be available to download from the Dishonored 2 store page on online stores in all supported platforms, including the PlayStation Store, Xbox Marketplace, and Steam.  Players who play through the demo and then decide to purchase the full version of the game will have their progress saved, allowing them to transfer over all their saves and pick up the campaign where they left off in the trial.

Dishonored 2 was released in November 2016, as a highly-anticipated sequel to the very successful original Dishonored from 2012.  Dishonored 2 saw considerable critical acclaim at release, receiving Game of the Year honors from numerous sources including PC Gamer and IGN.

Dishonored 2 also recently saw a major update in January of this year, bringing several new features to the game, with a focus on enhancing replayability for existing players.  The update, titled simply Game Update 2, introduced the ability to replay any specific mission from the campaign, and added tons of different customization options for the game’s difficulty.  Since the update, players can adjust sliders that impact how stealthy their character can be, how many enemies will attack them at once, or how effective their sleep darts are at knocking out bad guys.  You can also toggle on the new “Iron Mode”, which removes the ability to manually save or load the game, and enables “permadeath”, giving every move and choice you make a tremendous amount of weight.

With these new features and the upcoming free trial, it looks like Bethesda is keen to keep Dishonored 2 on the map for more months to come.
