Disgaea Finally Ported To PC

From its original release back in 2003, the original Disgaea: Hour Of Darkness has grown immensely in popularity and established itself as a cult classic for fans of the RPG genre. Now 13 years later the RPG is coming to PC.

As described on the game’s official Steam page:

Two years after the death of his father, Overlord Krichevskoy, the demon prince Laharl awakens to discover that the Netherworld is in turmoil. With unlikely allies, his devious vassal Etna and the angel trainee Flonne, he must battle his way to supremacy to retake the throne and become the next Overlord. Experience the SRPG classic, now on PC!

The game’s Steam page was quietly put up earlier today with a planned February 2016 release. Repackaged as Disgaea PC, developer Nippon Ichi Software emphasized the game will not just be a simple port but will have brand new textures and an updated user interface. All content from the PSP remake Disgaea: Afternoon of Darkness will also be included such as the full voice acting and the large Etna Mode alternate storyline. New Steam features (Achievements Cloud Saves, Badges, and trading cards) are also added.

The PC version marks the third time the game will be ported. The aforementioned PSP remake debuted in North America in 2007 and a DS port was released in 2008. Nippon Ichi has previously stated that all of their newest games would be exclusive to Playstation and Vita systems. The latest entry in the series, Disgaea 5: Alliance of Vengeance, released in early October for the Playstation 4. Judging on the PC ports success we may hope to see more titles in the series come to Steam.
