DICE Sent Out a Teaser on Twitter Today For Battlefield 1’s ‘Shall Not Pass” DLC

In a Twitter post earlier today, DICE, developer of Battlefield 1, sent out a small teaser of the games first expansion content, Shall Not Pass, prior to its March release date. More information will come out closer to its release, but until then, a small teaser will have to hold us all over.

To start off, the new content will feature new maps, weapons, and playable Army(French). The time frame the DLC will take place in will be the Battle of Verdun, where nearly 40 million artillery shells were fired during the duration of the battle.

Around 1 million shells were fired in the opening barrage of the Battle of Verdun. This created massive forest fires around the fortified city and the battlefields surrounding it. Soldiers tell stories of being able to see these fires from far away. We really wanted to capture this initial fighting in a battle that came to be known as the Devil’s Anvil.

The constant barrage of artillery shells destroyed surrounding villages and forests, leaving behind nothing but ruble and corpses. Verdun ended up being the longest battle of the war, lasting nearly 9 months. Players playing the game will be thrown into the initial attacks which began February 1916.

Now, to the teaser video, only 15 seconds long but leaving a chilling image in the final seconds. To start off the video we see a tank drive past a man standing in a bath of fire with nothing but a club in his hand. Behind him, a forest is ablaze. Other than the fire the only other object to stand out is a single French flag blowing in the wind. Take a look for yourself below.

While there is no specific date, we do know that the DLC will me released sometime in March. Check back next week for more news on what we can expect from the first expansion to hit Battlefield 1.
