Diablo Immortal opened for limited public Technical Alpha today. However, not everyone can get access to it – in a recent post, Blizzard explained that right now it is only open for players in Australia who have previously registered on the Google Play Store. The invites will be sent out to those players who registered the earliest and whose device meets the minimum system requirements. This Technical Alpha is primarily for Blizzard to test out server stability as well as to gain insight on how players react to gameplay and game mechanics.
Diablo Immortal was first announced at BlizzCon 2018 and advertised as Diablo game for mobile devices. The game is a mix between Diablo III and a free-to-play massive multiplayer online game, but it will have an original story that takes place between Diablo II: Lord of Destruction and Diablo III. Gameplay mechanics have been revealed through a bunch of blog posts released by Blizzard and the experiences of the players who able to participate in the limited public Technical Alpha. The Technical Alpha allows players to be one of four different types of classes: Wizard, Barbarian, Monk, and Demon Hunter. However, players can expect to get the Necromancer and Crusade class when the game fully releases. Right now, players are restricted to the first 45 levels during the Technical Alpha, however, there has not been a max amount of levels determined yet.
Diablo Immortal, while having a Diablo feel that previous Diablo fans will know and love, will have more of an MMO-feel. Players can team up with other players in order to do Rifts, dungeons, and quests as well as being able to see random players wandering around.
The Technical Alpha is expected to last around a couple of weeks. However, Blizzard has not announced the final release date for Diablo Immortal.
