The mobile Diablo spin-off, Diablo Immortal, was expected to release sometime this year, but according to Blizzard announcement, that won’t be happening. Diablo Immortal “is now planned for release in the first half of 2022, which will allow us (Blizzard Entertainment) to add substantial improvements to the whole game,” said the American video game developer in a press release. The action-packed RPG that gave players setting, unique characters, and loot all on a mobile interface comes with a delay due to Blizzard wanting to ensure they can deliver the best gaming experience to Diablo fans. With this extra added time, Blizzard hopes to polish and incorporate feedback from its technical alpha so that Diablo Immortal will be the title their community loves.
According to the press release, Blizzard’s feedback from the “Closed Alpha,” where a group of test participants played a test version of Diablo Immortal while giving their honest reviews, allowed the developer to review substantial areas where the game needed improvement. Specifically, testers pointed out that the PvP content, like Cycle of Strife, needed better accessibility. In addition, testers also stated that the PvE content like Helliquary needed to be more engaging for players. Blizzard now promises fans that they will implement these plans in the future as they continue to beta test.
Here are some of the changes players can look out for when Diablo Immortal finally launches: a Helliquary system with PvE raids up to 8 players, more engaging bounties, the inclusion of “Challenge Rifts” that reward you with exlcusive upgrade materials, adding bonus XP gain for players who don’t play as often, and higher Paragon levels that mean earning more powerful items. Although, this is just a mere glimpse into what Blizzard has in store for the game. Another test, coming later this year, will supposedly include the improvements the developer has learned from the Closed Alpha.
