What a rollercoaster of a year it’s been so far for fans of Capcom’s iconic action series Devil May Cry. It’s been about 7 years since the release of the commercially and critically successful return to form for the series in Devil May Cry 5, and after almost a decade of radio silence (minus the occasional Dante cameo in games like Shin Megami Tensei 3: Nocturne Remaster or the mobile game Devil May Cry: Peak of Combat) the series is beginning to stir again. First, sadly, with a universally panned Netflix animated series and now with another cameo appearance in Kuro Games’ gacha title Punishing: Gray Raven.
Punishing: Gray Raven featuring Dante from the Devil May Cry series also features his twin brother Vergil and yes he has Bury the Light as his theme.

Personally I prefer Vergil Battle 2. Vergil’s inclusion is interesting though, Punishing: Gray Raven may be a gacha game but its actual gameplay allows for freedom from the player in combat. Someone has already recreated Vergil’s most popular combo from SunhiLegend in game.

The collab will be coming later this month on May 22nd, 2025. So if you’re a Devil May Cry fan in the market for a new gacha title to try out keep an eye on this release.
It is interesting that Devil May Cry is becoming so active right now. The Netflix show was not well received by anyone, but there will still be a second season (due to the way Netflix commissions and then splits shows up), and now there’s a popular crossover cameo by the two figureheads of the series (sorry Nero), this might be a sign that Capcom is ready to move forward with the Devil May Cry series. After the departure of Hideaki Itsuno, a potential Devil May Cry 6 would definitely be breaking new ground, but we can only speculate until then.
