Hideo Kojima’s breakaway sci-fi game, Death Stranding, is a source of mystery for many, but that does not prevent it from being a popular game. According to developing company Kojima Productions, as of March 2021, the game has sold over 5 million copies on the PlayStation 4 and PC, which they consider quite a successful performance. It was the first game developed by Kojima Productions, a company headed by Hideo Kojima of Metal Gear fame, and celebrated its one year anniversary on July 14. With this success, a director’s cut version of Death Stranding is set for release on September 5th for the PlayStation 5.
The Director’s Cut version of Death Stranding will involve new cosmetics, updated graphics, new missions, a brand new racing mode, and plenty more. Emphasis has been placed on the update and expansion of the Social Strand System feature, which allows players to interact with each other asynchronously through various in game actions. The game will also be updated to match the PS5’s bigger and better abilities.
The Director’s Cut will be available for the PS5 on September 24th, and preorders are open now. If a copy of Death Stranding is already owned for the PS4, the Director’s Cut can be purchased as an upgrade on the PS5 for only $10. More news has been teased for release, especially about the Social Strand System feature, between now and then.
