Deus Ex GO, Hitman Sniper: The Shadows, and Many Other Former Square Enix Montreal Titles to be Shut Down in January

After being shut down, and only one month after name change, Onoma has begun to sunset some of it’s live service titles. These mostly pertain to their mobile library, all of which were released when they were known as Square Enix Montreal. The developer has announced that  Deus Ex Go, Hitman Sniper: The Shadows, Arena Battle Champions, and Space Invaders: Hidden Heroes will all be shut down and removed from the App Store and Google Play store on December 1, 2022, and January 4, 2023 respectively.

All of the aforementioned titles will be delisted on December 1, and once January 4, 2023 passes, none of the titles will be playable in any form or capacity. In-game purchases have also been suspended immediately, but if you already bought anything in any of the titles, you can still use it. It’s also important to note that there are no refunds, so if you have anything to use in-game, now would be a good time to utilize it.

As we already mentioned earlier, Onoma would be shutting down with the employees being moved to Eidos Montreal. This came less than a month after Embracer rebranded them. The studio, which was formerly known as Square Enix Montreal, was the namesake’s mobile gaming division for western titles, specifically for the Deus Ex and Hitman franchises. Deus Ex GO in particular was often considered one of the studio’s best titles, which launched back in 2016 as a companion piece for Deus Ex: Mankind Divided. Embracer acquired the studio from Square Enix earlier this year, as well as Eidos Montreal and Crystal Dynamics, which gave them the Tomb Raider franchise in the process.
