It has now been nearly five years since Quantic Dream released their futuristic narrative driven title Detroit: Become Human. The once-time PlayStation exclusive was one of the biggest titles that year and was nominated for several Game of the Year awards. Quantic Dream has announced that Detroit: Become Human has crossed a major milestone. It has now sold more than eight million copies worldwide since it was released in 2018, a major achievement for the title.

These numbers are quite the jump from the previous statistic where it was reported in 2022 that the game sold more than 6.5 million units worldwide. That’s less than a year difference and the title increased those numbers exponentially. For those interested in the comparisons, of the 8 million units sold, 5.5 million were from the PlayStation side while 2.5 million were from the PC side. This makes sense as the game was originally a PlayStation 4 exclusive before it was ported to the PC platform in 2019.

The title’s presence on PC is more than likely the main cause of its number resurgence. As we mentioned already, Detroit: Become Human was a PlayStation-exclusive title until Sony decided to make some of their console-only games available on the PC market. Detroit: Become Human was one of the first to do this, and it also helped that two additional Quantic Dream titles were released around the same time on PC, Beyond: Two Souls, and the critically acclaimed Heavy Rain. Detroit: As for new projects, Quantic Dream has been hard at work on a new title that is related to the Star Wars universe, all while being acquired by video game powerhouse NetEase this past Summer.
