First revealed in a Nintendo Direct in June 2023, the sequel to the 2018 3DS title starts off where the last game ended, with series protagonist Tim Goodman returning to Ryme City alongside the titular coffee-loving Pikachu. Players will solve puzzles, look for clues, and question a wide cast of various characters in the duo’s quest for truth.
The newest trailer showcases more story, characters, and a first in-depth look into the title’s gameplay and detective mechanics.
Detective Pikachu Returns launches on the Nintendo Switch on October 6, 2023. Currently, pre-orders for the game are available on the Nintendo eShop for $49.99 USD. Fans who pre-order from the Pokemon Center Japan will receive an exclusive Detective Pikachu Returns Promo Card starting August 9th. It’s unknown whether those exclusive items will be available outside of Japan.
