Destruction AllStars burst onto the scene as one of the first games revealed to be coming to the PlayStation 5 during Sony’s initial reveal event. It caught the attention of many with its bombastic action and unique character personalities. It was released a few months back as a free PlayStation Plus subscription game, and now it’s getting an update for its loyal player base.
The announcement was made today on PlayStation’s official social media pages, and details were expanded upon in a blog update on PlayStation’s website. George Rule, the community manager for Lucid Games, spoke about the new update and what players can expect to see moving forward in Season 1. “Over the past few months, we’ve been refining Destruction AllStars’ core game experience based on valuable community feedback. We’re really grateful to everyone who’s been talking to us on Twitter and Discord, highlighting what could be improved or iterated upon. A lot of this aligns with our own observations and has helped guide our recent internal playtests as we try out new things or push the game in new directions,” Rule said.
First off, Lucid Games is making strides to improve on the issue of “Ghost Hits”, where players feel their vehicles take damage without seeing anything hit them. While Lucid Games says latency issues online may affect this as well as other character abilities, they’re working on a new set of parameters to stop this issue. Lucid Games is also adjusting the cooldown on how rapidly a player can hit cars after already hitting another one.
From the blog post, a bevy of other added updates is coming as well, such as:
- New skins and cosmetics
- Online parties for solo game modes
- A new Quickplay playlist
- Buffs to All-Stars and Hero Vehicles
- Two Reworked Mayhem maps with smaller arena sizes, which will be going live in a few weeks
- Three new premium AllStar Pass tiers
- Refreshed shop interface
George Rule wraps up the post, saying, “We feel that all of these changes represent a step forward in the gameplay experience of Destruction AllStars. The team really wanted to hit the nail on the head with our latest patch and deliver truly meaningful changes to our community. We’re thrilled that we were also able to deliver some cool new skins and maps for our community to earn and explore and we can’t wait to share more information on future updates!”. Lucid Games is taking player feedback very seriously, and it clearly shows after this latest update.
