A new psychological horror game launched today called The Alighieri Circle: Dante’s Bloodline. It is inspired by Dante Alighieri’s Divine Comedy, reimagining this classic piece where the Inferno is a shadow that threatens to consume the player. In this interpretation, players embody Gabriele Alighieri, an ordinary man crushed by his familial legacy and afflicted by a generational curse.
The main plot of the story centers around a barrier between Gabriele’s reality and Hell, which fades every 33 years. If he wishes to save the world and protect his family, he must complete “The Ritual.” However, that would mean embracing a destiny he has spent his whole life resisting.
Gabriele must return to his ancestral home, completing a ritual where he has to navigate two converging realities. Players shift from The Villa, a quiet melancholic Italian manor, and The Dive, a distorted reflection of the infernal depths. They must gather the mystical lost pages of Dante’s Comedy and reunite them to keep the gates of Hell sealed.
There is no combat that will be featured in the gameplay, but players will witness Gabriele confront his deepest fears and past trauma. They must solve riddles while navigating his psychological journey and discovering the tragic Alighieri history.
The game includes full voice acting in Italian and English, along with subtitles across 9 languages. This is meant to help maintain the game’s atmospheric tension as players immerse themselves in Gabriele’s story.
Entalto Publishing, one of the publishers behind the game, posted the official launch trailer today. It highlights Lovecraftian style environments that are stunning and maintain the eerie atmosphere.
The Alighieri Circle: Dante’s Bloodline is available for PC, Playstation 5, and Xbox Series X|S players. The game is currently 10% off for an Introductory Offer sale on Steam, which will end on September 24th.
