Today, Bungie has revealed more information about the next season of Destiny 2 which begins next week. They said “available to all players of Destiny 2, Season of Opulence will deliver new challenges, loot, and lore. Seasonal ranks for ritual activities will be reset once more, with fresh set of Pinnacle weapons available to earn. The Iron Banner will be updated with a seasonal Quest to unlock armor. This summer, the Solstice of Heroes event returns with new rewards. Owners of the Destiny 2 Annual Pass will receive their third extension of Destiny end-game content. Benedict-44 will be waiting in the Tower to help launch the new season. He’ll have your imperial summons, introducing you to treasure hunts, the Menagerie, and more.” This is the final update to the Destiny 2: Forsaken gameplay calendar which includes Season of the Forge and Season of the Drifter.
The Menagerie is a new 6 player activity that “serves as a Guardians gateway to treasure in Season of Opulence”. Players will have to go through a series of challenges which will allow them to choose which gear they receive as a reward. Over time, players can upgrade the Chalice of Opulence, which is what you use to get rewards, to acquire more plentiful and powerful rewards. Anyone who has completed the Forsaken campaign can access the Menagerie once. Everyone also has access to the Imperial Summons quest which grants a power surge at 690 power so they can jump into the new content. Annual Pass owners will get new Menagerie bosses introduced throughout the month of June.
The set of Pinnacle weapons includes the Revoker, Wendigo GL3, and Hush. The Revoker’s missed shots are returned to the magazine after a short duration; the Wendigo GL3 will have orbs of light which increase blast radius and damage, and Hush’s hipfired precision shots give a massive draw-speed bonus. The Solstice of Heroes will include Solstice Armor which can be pursued by visiting Eva Levante in the Tower. An empowerment buff can had if you create elemental orbs by matching your elemental damage to the daily element. Season of Opulence starts on June 4.
