Destiny 2 shared its last update, the aptly named “Moment of Triumph” on June 9th. To no surprise, this final hurrah was met with the utmost fervor, as Kotaku reports over “130,000 Destiny 2 players” were “logged in on Steam” on the 9th. The server even crashed due to some Destiny 2 fans need to show Bungie, that the decision to pause updates was mistake. While no new decision has been made yet, Destiny 2’s social media accounts continue posting, and players have remained active playing the game, as yesterday, Steam DB reports there were roughly 135,000 plus active players at “20:00 UTC .”
However, in a wonderful surprise, Bungie released a video yesterday morning, called So Far, Together that commemorates and celebrates the years both fans and the team have shared with Destiny 2. The team shared:
“Thank you for walking with me all these years.”

The trailer explores Guardians, the main characters of the game, who as stated in the trailer were “dreamed” about and “The reality has been beyond anything I could have imagined.” It discusses how Guardians are made “to protect humanity,” and while they are lacking knowledge of the past, they “were chosen for a reason.” Though their life is battle filled, “Whatever’s coming doesn’t scare me. I know we’ll be together.” As scenes of teams play. The trailer continues driving home that “We can never know what’s ahead, but we know where we’ve been” as the Guardian’s adventures play on the screen. From going after “The Witness,” to losing friends and handling “grief,” to the “sacrifice” of friends and loved ones, the trailer shows montages of it all. However, it also shows the return of “Sundance,” characters walking over the edge and Sundance doing “what I was made for,” its death and the death of some other characters as well.
The trailer pulls out all the stops, as it shows the reasons the Guardians kept their mission (their friends and loved ones) as well as the world seemingly after completion. The trailer states “Thank you for walking with me all these years. For carrying this burden with me. You make me proud,” words that are more truthful than ever with the game’s idle slate ahead. The trailer seemingly addresses this saying while things are still unfinished like “the Prophecy” “But our future is what we make it.” The trailer ends sweetly saying “I’ve lived long time and been a lot of things. But I think the best thing I’ve ever been is your friend.” Then lastly “SEE YOU STARSIDE, GUARDIANS.” The full trailer can be watched below. As Destiny 2 stalls, This Week In Destiny- 06/11/26 shares that there will be a few more This Week In Destiny updates but soon they’ll enter a period of stasis as well, with socials and “other outlets” being used instead. But for now, the news article shared that there are lots of activities and other information due to the release of the last update that fans can look forward to in Destiny 2.
